FRIENDS OF THE LITTLE PLOVER RIVER

The Friends of the Little Plover River

The Friends of the Little Plover River was founded in 2005 by a group of citizens who were concerned about the degradation of this unique and beautiful resource. In 2005 & 2006 the river dried up because of groundwater flow issues. The group partnered with Golden Sands RC&D to help them accomplish their goals:

• Establish a healthy flow for the Little Plover River

• Increase public awareness of the decreased flow in the Little Plover River

• Work with the community and government to help maintain the Little Plover River’s beauty and worth

• Organize the annual Little Plover River Appreciation Day event

• Help protect the groundwater that recharges the Little Plover River
