YOU CAN PREVENT THE SPREAD OF AQUATIC INVASIVE SPECIES!

Our lakes and rivers provide enjoyment and recreation to many people. Here's how you can help protect the environment by preventing the spread of aquatic invasive species no matter what your favorite outdoor hobby!

GENERAL BOATING/FISHING
  • Inspect boats/kayaks/canoes, trailers and equipment.

  • Remove all attached aquatic plants, animals and mud

  • Drain all water from boats, vehicles, motors and equipment

  • Never move plants or live fish away from any body of water.

WATER GARDNERS
  • Build your water garden away from waterways and flood-prone areas.

  • Rinse plants before planting to remove animals, eggs and other plants or plant parts.

  • Weed out uninvited plants.

  • Seal unwanted plants in a plastic bag and place them in the trash. If possible, freeze the bag before disposal.

  • Never release plants or animals into waterways!

TRAPPING

  • Remove aquatic plants, animals and mud from traps, trap stakes, tools and other equipment.

  • Remove all mud, seeds and aquatic plant material from footwear.

WATERFOWL HUNTERS

  • Remove aquatic plants, animals and mud from decoy anchors, decoy bags and other equipment.

  • Drain all water from decoys and equipment.

  • Remove all aquatic plants and mud from dog vest and fur.

  • Remove all mud, seeds and aquatic plant material from footwear.
