Additional Program Information

Deer Management Assistance Program (DMAP)

DMAP is the foundation of these cooperatives. DMAP provides landowners in cooperatives with technical assistance and management opportunities. Learn more from the videos below or from the DNR website.

Forest Stewardship Program

Many landowners who participate in DMAP already have written plans and supplement them using DMAP.  A popular plan throughout Wisconsin is the Managed Forest Law (MFL) plan which reduces property taxes, qualifies timber for the sustainable certified marketplace and lays out strategies to improve woodland productivity. For more information on MFL forest plans click here.

A non -regulatory alternative is the Forest Stewardship Program (FSP) which provides sustainable forest management recommendations for property owners. Unlike MFL, these plans do not provide you the tax benefit. For more information on FSP click here

**Landowners within cooperatives are eligible to receive discounts on their forest management plans.
