Festival Information |
Come and see an amazing sight. Greater Prairie Chickens mate for the year
in April after that these ground nesting birds raise their you and forage on the
grasslands.
See the Prairie Chickens on their "Lek" (mating or booming grounds)
Their mating dance is crucial to the survival of the species, but also to the Grasslands. Prairie Chickens are a key species in the Grassland habitats, as their numbers decline, it denotes a loss of habitat. The Grasslands are disappearing from Central Wisconsin and with it a truly amazing and picturesque species.
